Week 4 of the ORC is now complete and I've made lots of progress.
This week is all about the tile. Once the tile is up in a bathroom, it starts to feel like a finished room and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I can also take a sigh of relief when you see it installed and actually love it.
I'm loving the organic feel of this white subway tile from Mosaic Tile Outlet. It goes with any style from modern to traditional and will be classic enough to stand the test of time. The hexagon floor tile has been on my "want" list for some time. I've been seeing both subway and hexagon tile in so many gorgeous bathrooms lately and had to have them both.
Here's a close up pic of the subway tile and look at all that texture.
Since I wanted a timeless design I chose the brick pattern. I used white grout to make it seem a little more seamless and modern. I didn't want to see a lot of lines when using a dark grout. I love the dark grout look but didn't want to distract from the lines that you'll see in this small space with the maple shiplap that's going on the opposite wall.
I used a simple marble tile to back the shower nooks. These nooks will add some much needed storage to this bathroom for all the toiletries 2 tween girls can acquire. Who knew there were 3 different kinds of conditioner you need to use? I remember when the all-in-one shampoo/conditioner came out and I thought it was the greatest since Spanx. Now it's a more is better approach I guess.
4 weeks down on the One Room Challenge and only 2 more to go. Finally in the final stretch and loving when a room starts coming together like this.
Next week we'll be finishing the walls, painting them Simply White by Benjamin Moore and installing our maple shiplap from Surfacing Solution. The last week will be all the finishing details such as hardware, lighting and accessories.
Don't forget to head to the ORC-One Room Challenge blog to check out all the other participants room remodel progress. I'm already getting my inspo for the next room remodel from this site alone.
